Age 3 to 5
The early years program focuses on the holistic development of the young learner. At this young age, we instill a love of learning and encourage each child to express their creativity through the arts, music, and physical activity. We develop confident communicators that are at ease working collaboratively with others, as well as sharing information in front of a group. Students will begin to express themselves in verbal, physical and written ways and discover their place in their community and world.
Kindergarten - Grade 5
The UNISUS program is transdisciplinary in nature, where subjects are taught through units of inquiry rather than isolated subject teaching. The program incorporates local and global issues into the curriculum, asking students to look at six related, transdisciplinary themes and to learn the links between them. The goal is for the student to take their learning out of the classroom and take action as a result of their learning. Another objective of the program is for students to develop positive personal attitudes towards learning, people and the environment. Learning goes beyond the classroom walls as subjects are taught in unison surrounding concepts that reflect real life issues. Subject matter in various disciplines will be explored in unison and at a deeper level so that transfer outside the classroom may occur. Students will show their skills and knowledge in a final culminating exhibition that will showcase students’ collaborative efforts, communication, action, research and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) skills, as students examine an area of importance to them and present findings to their parents and peers.
