Kindergarten Open House Event
March 13th Info Night
Experience the UNISUS Difference! Join us for our parent information evening to discover how our Primary Years inquiry-based program nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in a supportive, globally-minded environment.
On March 13th at 4:30pm, we are inviting parents of children entering Kindergarten for September 2025 to come into the school and see our Kindergarten classroom, where so much fun and learning happens! Meet the teachers, see the school campus and discover what Kindergarten can be.
In the UNISUS Kindergarten class, we:
- Foster Inquiry-Based Learning – Following the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), we nurture curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning from an early age.
- Provide Individualized Attention – Ideal class sizes ensure each child is seen, supported, and challenged in a nurturing environment.
- Embrace a Transdisciplinary Approach – Subjects are integrated through meaningful, real-world connections, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage Global Perspectives – We nurture internationally minded learners who develop empathy, respect, and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
- Go Beyond Traditional Learning – Hands-on exploration, collaboration, and student agency prepare children for a rapidly changing world.
- Incorporate The Arts, Coding & Technology – Students explore the arts in class and are introduced to the basics of coding and digital literacy.
- Build Strong Foundations – Early literacy and numeracy skills are developed through engaging, structured and fun activities.
- Explore the Outdoors – Outdoor learning experiences connect students with nature and encourage active play.
- Cultivate Confidence & Social Growth – Through teamwork, kindness, and a supportive environment, children develop the skills to thrive both academically and personally.
Why Choose Unisus for Your Child’s Kindergarten Experience?
At UNISUS, we believe the early years of education set the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Our Kindergarten program provides an enriching, globally minded, and nurturing environment where your child can thrive.
An IB World School – The Only IB Boarding School in the Okanagan!
We follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), a globally recognized curriculum that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. UNISUS is the only IB school with boarding in the entire Okanagan Valley, offering a truly unique, world-recognized education in a breathtaking location. Your child will gain the advantages of a globally recognized curriculum within a close-knit and supportive local school community.
Individualized Learning in Small Classes
With ideal class sizes (current average 13-15 per class) and a commitment to personalized education, every child receives the attention and support they need to grow academically and socially. We intentionally maintain a small school community, currently with 150 students. At UNISUS, we are a close-knit and inclusive learning community where teachers know each student in the school by name.
A Truly International Experience
UNISUS is more than just a school—it’s a global learning hub. Your child will learn alongside students from around the world, gaining a deeper appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and traditions. We also have Spanish as a second language, expanding their communication skills right from Kindergarten.
Enrichment Beyond the Classroom
Students participate in Enrichment programs throughout the day that spark curiosity and creativity. They explore the arts, outdoor education, technology, and sports, developing confidence, collaboration, and a love for learning in diverse areas.
A Safe & Expansive Learning Environment
Set on 17 fenced acres, our campus provides plenty of space for outdoor play, nature exploration, and hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
Numeracy and Literacy at UNISUS
Here is an example of the difference UNISUS makes.
We participate in a program called IXL where we track diagnostic data of the students in critical learning areas. This is data from the last 6 weeks at our school, of UNISUS students vs. non-UNISUS students in literacy and numeracy.
