UNISUS Enrichment Programs, Coming September 2024!
We are pleased to share exciting news about our 2024-25 Student Enrichment Program. The program is a key part of our efforts to foster life-long learning and to provide opportunities for students to explore new interests and chase their passions!
The UNISUS Enrichment programs are designed for K-12 students. The program will provide opportunities for students to explore different areas of interest throughout the year or dive deep into an area of interest with more focus and dedication.
-
Grades K to 5 students will experience enrichment activities seamlessly integrated into their daily learning schedule across a number of broad and balanced areas of interest. Replacing the CASE, students will engage in a dedicated hour from 3:30 to 4:30PM to further hone skills in areas of keen interest.
-
Grades 6-12 students will have an opportunity to tailor their learning into a chosen area of interest. Enrichment programs (including dedicated Academies) will be offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:40 to 4:30PM. The new schedule allocates the mornings for deep and focused learning of core subjects while the afternoons are dedicated for enrichment activities. Our current CASE program will be replaced by this enhanced offering.
The Enrichment Programs will provide opportunities to explore or develop specialization in music, sports, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership, outdoor education, world languages and culture, academics and fine arts. These areas are intentionally chosen to offer a well-rounded education, nurturing both the academic and personal growth of each student.
We would like to invite ALL students entering grades 6-12 to fill out the pre-selection survey with their parents by June 2nd, 2024. The link is below, but can also be found on our Parent Portal announcements and on our home page. For K-5 students, the selection process will take place during the first week of the new school year in September.
We thank you for our continued partnership in the education of your children.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Chu
Executive Director

UNISUS Graduation!
Last week, we got to celebrate our UNISUS Graduates.
The graduating class included:
Pari Bhamre
Rana Ghazy
Ben Kimberley
Daniel Perez
Tessa Veitch
The graduation ceremony was amazing, with many tears of happiness from the families (and staff!). It has been a memorable journey for all of us, and we are so happy for our graduating class, who are all going on to further their studies in their schools of choice. Let's give a huge applause for our graduates. A special shout out to Ben for his outstanding valedictorian speech that our board member Gary Little heralded as one of best he's ever heard, and he's heard a LOT! Truly inspiring and moving.
This is a poem that was red at our ceremony, by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
What is Success?
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children,
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends,
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a garden patch,
a redeemed social condition,
or a healthy child;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
Congratulations graduates!
Last Day of School + Awards Ceremony - SAVE THE DATE!
Our last day of school is fast approaching and we have some fun family events on that day!
Please join us for our Awards of Excellence Ceremony in the gym at 10:30am where we can all celebrate the achievements of our amazing students! Afterwards, we invite families to join us for a goodbye BBQ lunch at 12:30, followed by early dismissal at 1:00pm.
From Ms. Tara:
I would like to personally invite ECE parents who have a child joining kindergarten (at any school) to the final assembly on June 21 from 10:30 -12:00 (ish) as we will host an ECE graduation during the awards of excellence.
PYP Exhibition
Date: Thursday June 6th, 2024
Time: 3:45-5:15pm
The grade 5 class is working on their PYP Exhibition, with the central idea: Throughout history, people have used the arts for self expression and communication".
The lines of inquiry are:
- How people make art
- The creative ways people share messages through the Arts
- How people respond to art
The students will be sharing their PYPx with the school community on the evening of Thursday June 6th, 2024 from 3:45-5:15pm, and we are so excited that SenPaq'cin School in Oliver will be joining us for the exhibition as well! So please mark this date in your calendars!
UnCharitable Event
Join us on June 5th at UNISUS for a thought-provoking evening of film, conversations and community!
The event will begin with a screening of “UnCharitable” by Dan Pallotta, followed by conversations on the messages of this documentary and how it relates to our local community.
“UnCharitable” challenges conventional wisdom about charitable giving, urging viewers to rethink how society perceives and supports nonprofits.
This event is part of our broader Vital Conversations series which aims to facilitate impactful discussions across the region, driving local change. Our CAS students has been engaged with the Vital Signs report developed by the Community Foundation of South Okanagan, exploring the challenges facing our community, so this will be a great opportunity for them to make connections for their upcoming CAS projects and lead the youth vital conversations.
We are bringing a variety of community members to the table: donors, charities, businesses, students, community builders and leaders. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue that can shape the future of our community.
Space is limited, so RSVP HERE
