UNISUS School Accessibility

About Our School Community

Unisus School is a growing independent school currently serving the educational needs of approximately 150 students.

Unisus School comprises an Early Childhood Learning Centre for pre-kindergarten children, a Kindergarten to Grade 7 Junior School, and a Grade 8–12 Senior School.

Unisus School operates on a single site within the municipality of Summerland, B.C. approximately 4 kilometres east of downtown Summerland. Unisus serves local students from townships such as West Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Trout Creek, and Penticton with some coming from further afield. The school also has international students from a variety of countries.

Notable programs at Unisus include an English Language Learners (ELL) program for its international students for whom English is not their mother tongue, an Enrichment program which provides extra-curricular programming aligned with the schools four pillars: Academic Excellence and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, Entrepreneurship, Outdoor Education, and Technology and Innovation; and Special Education programs are also provided for students with special educational needs.

Unisus School's Senior Leadership oversees a team that includes teachers, boarding and dormitory staff, kitchen, administration, marketing, recruitment, and maintenance personnel.

Both schools are governed by an Authority, a Board of Governors with long-standing backgrounds in education and a variety of business and management endeavours. The Board has a growing local presence with other board members serving from Vancouver and overseas. The Board consists of approximately ten trustees who establish policies and set the direction of Unisus School. Board meetings occur quarterly.

The school is in the beginning stages of parents restarting a Parent Support Group (PSG), and the School encourages parents in this undertaking and offers support where available and appropriate.
