Middle School (Gr.6 - Gr.7)

A Place to Deepen Learning, Discover Passions and Build Confidence

Learning in the middle school years is about more than memorizing facts—it’s about thinking critically, asking big questions, and beginning to see the world through new perspectives. It’s a time for students to challenge themselves, make connections across subjects, and discover how their learning applies beyond the classroom. We encourage curiosity, independence, and collaboration, because the middle years are where students begin shaping who they are as learners, leaders, and global citizens.

Book a Tour or a Virtual Meeting

Interested families can book a personal tour of Unisus School or book a phone meeting with us to learn more about the IB programs, our enrichment programs, the Scholar-Athlete pathways, and how our class sizes enable teachers to connect with each learner, tailoring instruction to spark curiosity and foster deeper understanding.

You will also learn more about the opportunities and the doors that open with a dual diploma from Unisus: an IB Diploma and the British Columbia Diploma.

During your meeting, you’ll learn about the school, the campus, and the classrooms, and you will discover what attending Unisus School can mean for your child!

At Unisus School, our Middle School (Grades 6 and 7) are a bridge between the Junior and Senior School. These years mark an important transition as students move from having one main classroom teacher in the Primary Years, to working with two homeroom teachers and a growing number of subject specialists in areas such as Spanish, ADST (Applied Design Skills and Technology), and Music. This shift gives students a broader learning experience and helps them adapt to new ways of working, while still ensuring they feel supported and connected.

This gradual shift prepares them for the Senior School by helping them adapt to new routines, build independence, and experience a wider range of subjects and teaching styles—all while still feeling supported in a close-knit environment.

At Unisus, our Academics+ model places strong academics at the core, while the “plus” represents the exceptional opportunities built directly into each student’s day.

Beginning in Grade 6, academic classes are scheduled in the mornings three days a week, with those afternoons dedicated to discovering and pursuing passions. Students can choose from our Scholar-Athlete programs in soccer, hockey, snowsports or motorsports, or, they can explore Enrichment electives within the areas of fine arts, music, outdoor education, entrepreneurship, multi-sport, leadership, and world languages.
